Pre-Hospital Emergency Anaesthesia Assist (PHEAA)

The one-day course is an in-depth and practical introduction to assisting with a pre-hospital emergency anaesthetic of adults for health care professionals. Delivered by an experienced multi-disciplinary team, this course will focus on the PHEA assist role and grow your confidence and skill through a mixture of plenary sessions and scenarios.
*Note that this programme is subject to changes.
This is an ideal course for health care professionals looking to broaden their experience of the pre-hospital emergency care of adults. You may be working in, or preparing to work in pre-hospital emergency care, such as those planning to progress to PHEM training programmes. You may also be preparing, or working within, the role of Event Doctor, Paramedic or Nurse or as a member of the wider professional medical team. The course is also useful for GPs wanting to add to their pre-hospital knowledge and experience, especially if moving to a rural setting.
We do require the following prerequisite knowledge:
- An understanding of the pre-hospital ABCDE algorithm
- A current ILS or ALS certification is required.
The course is not open to those who are not registered healthcare professionals, with the exception of suitably experienced British Army CMTs, Royal Navy MAs or RAF Medics, with senior trade training, who are supported by their command to attend.
