Paediatric in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (pPHEC)

The one-day course is an in-depth and practical introduction to the pre-hospital care of infants and children for registered healthcare professionals that builds on the knowledge and skills of the PHEC course. Delivered by an experienced multi-disciplinary team, this course will grow your confidence and skill in caring for infants and children in the varied pre-hospital care environment.
*This programme may be subject to changes.
This is an ideal course for health care professionals who are looking to broaden their experience of the pre-hospital emergency care of children and infants. You may be working in, or preparing to work in pre-hospital emergency care, such as those planning to progress to PHEM training programmes. You may also be preparing, or working within, the role of Event Doctor, Paramedic or Nurse or as a member of the wider professional medical team. The course is also useful for GPs wanting to add to their pre-hospital knowledge and experience, especially if moving to a rural setting.
We do require the following prerequisite knowledge:
- An understanding of the pre-hospital ABCDE algorithm
- Current BLS certification is required. An ILS or ALS certification is desired.
The course is not open to those who are not registered healthcare professionals, with the exception of suitably experienced British Army CMTs, Royal Navy MAs or RAF Medics, with senior trade training, who are supported by their command to attend.
